1. O deputy of God in this world and those in it
His sword and defender of his people

2. And his successor, created by Him when ill
Satisfying, God's pleasure be upon him when he pleases Him

3. When you descend upon a land or pass through it
And even when you depart, your justice brings it life

4. You bring relief to troubled souls, and what
Could relieve more than your presence those who suffer?

5. Your subjects in Lahj, whom you regarded
With faces lit, though diminished outwardly

6. Lowered in modesty, protected in tranquility
From idle talk of no use to them

7. Complaining of a scribe who robbed them
Of blessings you, thank God, covered them in

8. And the right of your blessings is for their effects
To remain, said one mercied by the Merciful established them

9. So turn him back, frustrated, from them and return them
To lasting praise through your offspring
