1. The breeze of dawn blew upon you, o king
Extinguishing the lamps from the horizon

2. And when the raven of darkness flew in fright
Seeing the glimmer of dawn in its eyelids

3. And the strings of the lute spoke
So listen, as the winds of comfort blew open

4. We are in a garden, where the breeze flows
Dressing the water in a coat, tight around the throat

5. The branches relate the tales of lovers
Between a handful drawn, and a handful picked

6. The roses in it are reddened cheeks, shy
And the narcissus bend like eyelids and pupils

7. The dew is a cloud, and the rose’s water a downpour
And the wind in the cup tells of lightning in the flames

8. And when the winds and flowers strew
The colors of turquoise, ruby, and leaves

9. Of bright red, fresh green,
And yellow bursting, or pure white

10. The robes of the breeze fluttered gracefully
When the clouds appeared in their wide expanse

11. And the songbirds in the branches sang
In a pleasing melody, soft and gentle

12. The birds sing to the drumming of the stream
And the ibex dances the lost wanderer’s dance

13. The cup kisses its pearls in wonder
And wears a robe of sunset’s glow

14. Until it’s said is it agate or wine’s fervor
Or the anemone, as it burns to ashes?

15. The water is lovesick from its lashes, so it has
A glance that steals the lover’s wandering gaze

16. Golden in the heart and limbs flowing
Like the course of love’s essence, each mercenary’s way

17. The noble king, of the kings, he to whom
Glory belongs, without false claims

18. If someone says his origins were lowly
I say to him, judgment belongs to the Creator

19. For ebony, without ivory the day they meet, is but
Cane, and musk without fragrance is nonsense

20. Anger increases his forbearance, though able
Forbearance and anger are unlikely allies

21. You see him, in the arm of his steed, smash
And downpour of his spearheads, pour

22. Men writhe under him in every battle
As the axis turns the stars of the horizon writhe

23. The sword laughs and necks weep
The spear knots and wounds gape

24. For the throat by the sword from his hand
And the body by the spear his Indian blade

25. Do not wonder how he divided them
But wonder, to the moment of division, how they stayed whole

26. He is generous, what contains his giving outlasts
What he did not grant with a kingdom, he did not bestow

27. If you tasked the hands of the destitute to
Take what he gives, they could not bear it

28. O noble, blessed king, his coming
Is but the light in the eye

29. We congratulate you verbally, but congratulations are due
To him, for if you did not appear, it would not shine

30. Congratulations, faithful fulfiller of hopes
Be glad, for what falls short of your hopes is guaranteed
