1. When necks are stretched for high positions,
They come to you though you did not seek them.

2. Though Ahmad inherits glory from his father,
Who among you can say the exalted one was my father,

3. If he had nothing to show his highness,
Except his noble forefathers?

4. In that there would be something he would forcibly tread upon
Reluctantly leaving the orbit of the seven planets.

5. In him there is much forbearance, generosity,
Munificence, merit, lineage,

6. And fathers, honor, nobility,
Perfection, knowledge, and refinement.

7. O clan of Ma'ybid you are the pride of mankind,
And you are the hidden gem among the Arabs.

8. The earth is the grave of all men in the end,
Yet only your dead are buried in books.

9. A young man's grave is in the bowels of earth,
While books are an everlasting grave.

10. Your youth excels in gaining glory,
And your elders' concern is glory never waning.

11. From you I have, beyond my wealth with others,
An intimacy that gives me the status of kinship.

12. My friend, their rights are obligatory,
And how many rights have I fulfilled that went unrewarded!

13. You owe me no recompense I hope for, nor support,
For you are my hope, and whoever hopes in you will not fail.

14. You remain, O son of Taqi al-Din, our pillar,
And the pillar of mankind, Arab and non-Arab.
