1. I could not end the one who drew
From my tears after who and before

2. Passion and indifference, and I have no patience
The one who is the origin of my illness

3. And a slender, drunk doe
By Allah, how I desire the one who intoxicated me

4. So do not blame me for the humility that flowed
For it is she who made me humble

5. If the reproacher were fair, he would blame the one
Who was cold yet did not abandon or incline away

6. I do not know if passion deceived my heart
Or if it was she who equals or transcends

7. And how strange is what Hind denied of
My traits, and what she inclined to

8. Every easy chalice except
The chalice of the one settled in my heart

9. It melted my insides and ransomed with it
The one melted in love and pointed

10. I wish she would spend the night with me
And join the one in my throat or connect

11. The swords of your glances startled me
By Allah, I will not forget the one who slipped away

12. How much harm I carry but I
Found myself like the one who surrendered

13. Oh woe to my soul from you, if only
She would support the one in the universe, she would waver

14. If you do not see her deviating from you
You would see her the sister of the one who deviated

15. I made her taste what Ahmad tasted
From the one whose limbs were torn on the day of al-Wujûh

16. The King al-Nâsir in his light
Towards guidance led the one who was misguided

17. The one whose swords in asking for justice
Only sought the one who transgressed and rebelled

18. It protected the blood of the soul it deemed inviolable
And relied on slaughtering the ones who slipped

19. Its ringing in the heat of battle made the enemy
Hate it, and does the exalted one disobey what is joined?

20. And it gained glory thereby, it removed
Humility, for the one for whom I was humbled

21. And it destroyed the enemies except for a band
Held together, who feared the exalted one I mentioned

22. It is protected in the furthest desert
From the wolf, the one who is inaccessible to slipping

23. And the roads that were not devious are secured
And the sides that dissolved are rebuilt

24. How many armies did it defeat and retaliate
Against for its whiteness, the one I untied

25. If a neighbor complained of an affliction
It would console the one that, if consoled, would slip away

26. It said to it, 'I mean the turns of fate,'
To the one who settles and does not slip away

27. If clouds of calamity appear, it hopes
Their rain from the one who drew forth

28. Its manners were not created from clothes
Nor did it dress in a name, the one who inclined

29. Say to the enemy, 'Submit to its authority'
So it may sheathe the sword that drew forth

30. And accept its actions with consent
And face the one from it with acquiescence

31. And adhere to its doors, for they
Are the refuge of the one who knocked and slipped away
