ما جود راحتيك والأنواء

1. Neither your generosity nor the clouds' rain
Are equal when their clouds pour down together.

١. ما جود راحتيك والأنواء
إن هطلت سحبهما سواء

2. You give abundantly with praise,
While the rain's generous pouring is with tears.

٢. أنت تجود بالكثير باسما
والغيث جود سيحه بكاء

3. Whoever compares you to the sea out of ignorance
His ignorance cannot be concealed.

٣. من قاس بالبحر نداك عامدا
فجهله ليس به خفاء

4. Can this sea, which overflows with well-being,
Be equal to that of mere water?

٤. هل يستوى البحران هذا ذهب
يفيض للعافي وهذا ماء

5. May he who spends the evening praising you,
Find no comfort though he wish to flatter.

٥. يفديك من أمسى يهز عطفه
مدح ولا يجدى به الرقاء

6. How often Ahmad is moved to tenderness,
Recognized in his joys by his generosity!

٦. كم هزة عند الثنا لأحمد
يعرف في نشواتها السخاء

7. And how often his gifts have cunningly tempted
Those who by them obtain what they desire!

٧. وكم على عطاه جادت حيل
نال بها الطالب ما يشاء

8. The generous man is deceived if you deceive him
By disguise, though not out of foolishness.

٨. ينخدع الكريم إن خادعته
تغابيا ذلك لا غباء

9. My Lord, those gifts which came to Your servant -
Through them Your blessings were made complete.

٩. مولاى تلك الصدقات التي
لعبدكم تمت بها النعماء

10. You see they were not for this fleeting world,
To say that would be a calumny.

١٠. تشاهدوا بانها ما كانت الع
ام هنا وذلك افتراء

11. Besides God, You are witness
And theirs, deriving at first from You.

١١. ما سوى الله وأنت شاهد
وافي اليهم منك ابتداء

12. They handed them to me and today deny them,
Though the judgment belongs to the judge and the decree to the decree-maker.

١٢. وسلموها لي واليوم انكروا
والحكم ما يحكم والقضاء

13. Your Lord of the Throne told You, "Do not fear them!"
Nor dread the tyranny of enemies!

١٣. وقاك رب العرش ما تحذره
ولا اتقى سطوتك الأعداء
