The whispers of people who prefer vanities

27. So they found you kinder in trenches than the sand grouse
And more patient than a lion on the water stalking

28. They did wrong as they used to and spread out their clothes
And did not beware, dismissing retaliation

29. They watch that mediators walk between you
And accept from them what is made easy, persisting

30. But nothing made them wary except the warner came to you
A resolved war that does not get bored of raids

31. Morning and night the same to him if he raids
And the cold of night and hot noons meeting

32. So they fled lightly while it filled their homes
But they stayed empty, neglected

They see you either a morning raider or an evening one

37. And whoever slept from them, rose wiping his neck

If they hear a caller's voice among the people

39. And the world has narrowed for them, so reduce those

40. And you remain righteous, doing good to the obedient
