1. Times of your arrival are a holiday and joy
O you who are the spirit to me, and the spirit and comfort

2. O you when my eyes are lined with their rising
And in my cheek beauty is fulfilled and rests

3. Their love permeates every gem
Mind and soul and limbs and spirits

4. So I looked at nothing, nothing ever appeared
Except my heart's beloveds beyond it, no others

5. I looked upon the beauty that nothing resembles
So nothing pleases my heart after their radiance

6. And I cannot bear to look at others
Though the world said to me in this or disputed

7. I drowned lifelong in their love, did you not see me
In their sea ships in truth and sailor

8. What of one who saw one day their beauty
That no sun or dawn appears to him

9. If the hills of Mecca perceived their perfections
They would bow, and from ardor they would moan and cry out

10. The shooting stars throughout time swimming
If they saw them they would not have come or gone

11. If I marveled at anything, I would marvel
At the patience of lovers - they neither moaned nor cried out

12. I want to hide passion sometimes but my dissolution prevents me
How not, and love is a blabbermouth indeed

13. Nothing turns me from my love of them
Not even swords upon my chest and spears

14. The censurers said you are bewitched, I said to them
Yes, and I have health in it and correction

15. It only grows within me forever with the moments
So for it among lovers I have praises

16. O my critic, make excuses for my love of them
For my heart is cracked open by what it desires

17. Blame is seduction and strengthening
So blame, for you are a prolific blamer

18. I shun any companion who does not speak to me of them
And deprivation is forbidden in the Torah’s tablets

19. The law of love rules in its dominion
With a sword of aloes free of sorrows he rests

20. Poor is he who has not tasted love's flavor since it began
Nor did spirits stir him from morsels

21. So my boon companion in intimacy is none but a youth
Who spreads and explains their news

22. I have no earnings, no work or labor
For in their tales lies profit and benefits

23. Paradise is naught but their gatherings
Wherein are fruits and birds and spirits

24. The lover's passion is where the beloved settled
And however he went, spirits wafted from him

25. I want through the long nights to be alone with them
With pitchers and goblets turned round

26. Dawn startles me when its harbingers appear
Would that there were no light or dawn

27. My night shone radiant in the beauty of their rising
And all this life is lights and joys

28. Settle my heart and heal my soul and soothe me
For I have attained what I sought, the people's rest or wanderings

29. And seek from your God what you wish
For He has treasures without lock or key
