2. Whose verses obey him readily,
And yield like a close friend.

3. Bringing together estranged meanings,
Subtleties gentler than a breeze.

4. With a stir in the heart of their listener,
The stir of innocence within the sick.

5. Exciting those who shun conventions,
And stirring those saddened by companions.

6. When they shake the banner they bring magic
Of eloquence and natural talent.

7. And if they brandish swords and lances,
Their weapons remain like debris.

8. I looked upon his words and wept in sorrow,
Not valuing the flawless and pure.

9. But the dwelling of tears is from me,
For their son and pride, Saleem.

10. Generous from generous from generous,

11. To the sons of Hashim he was born,
Of noble lineage and vast glory.

12. So hoard their love when I'm in need,
For no intimate can aid an intimate.
