1. The cliffs of Umm Hasan were rent when we departed,
And in the saddlebags was a sign that does not change,

2. And in al-Gurr and al-Gharrฤ' were encampments from her people,
And around as-Safฤ were circles of her family revolving,

ููุญูููู ุงูุตููุง ู
ูู ุฃูููููุง ู
ูุชูุฏููููุฑู
3. Those nights when their valleys called to you as a sincere advisor,
And when the scent of them was pure musk and ambergris,
ูฃ. ูููุงูููููุง ุฅูุฐ ุฌูุจููุง ูููู ูุงุตูุญู
ููุฅูุฐ ุฑูุญููุง ู
ูุณูู ุฒูููููู ููุนููุจูุฑู
4. Do you not know, O Umm Hasan, that we,
Are a mixed band, none among us falling short,
ูค. ุฃูููู
ุชูุนููู
ู ูุง ุฃูู
ูู ุญูุณูุงูู ุฃูููููุง
ุฎูููุทุงู ุฒููุงูู ูููุณู ุนูู ุฐุงูู ู
ููุตูุฑู
5. And that death is the end of every finger-breadth,
So is that not beyond what people seek to restrain?

ููุงูุง ุซูุบุฑู ููููู ุซููููููุฉู
ููููู ุฐุงูู ุนูู
ูุง ููุจุชูุบู ุงููููู

6. And Ghobarฤ' of Makhashฤซ turned away in fear,
Her brother ensnared by the causes of death,
ูฆ. ููุบูุจุฑุงุกู ู
ูุฎุดููู ุฑูุฏุงูุง ู
ูุฎูููุฉู
ุฃูุฎููุง ุจูุฃูุณุจุงุจู ุงูู
ููุงูุง ู
ูุบูุฑููุฑู
7. I put an end to my nagging doubts but did not say
To the wavering and excitable one, "How do you command?"

ููุฎูููุงุจูุฉู ููููุงุจูุฉู ููููู ุชูุฃู

8. He sought refuge, after his confidence was shaken,
With the Banลซ Mฤwan, a branch of Usฤmah, more flourishing,
ูจ. ุชูุฏุงุฑููู ุนููุฐุงู ุจูุนุฏู ู
ุง ุณุงุกู ุธูููููุง
ุจูู
ุงูุงูู ุนูุฑูู ู
ูู ุฃูุณุงู
ูุฉู ุฃูุฒููุฑู
9. They reproach me that my mother is a foreigner,
And is there in a generous, glorious man that which can be reproached?

ูู ุบูุฑูุจูุฉู
ููููู ูู ููุฑูู
ู ู
ุงุฌูุฏู ู

10. And they reproached me for wealth when I gathered it,
And they reproached me for poverty when I was destitute,

ููููุฏ ุนููููุฑููู ุงููููุฑู ุฅูุฐ ุฃููุง ู

11. And my people reproached me for my youth and my folly
Whenever the comrades of a man choose to find fault,

ุฑูุฆู ููุชูุนููููุฑู
12. The living environs of แธคayy have welcomed the son of Khฤlid,
While Jaสฟfar has coveted the sheep of another,
ูกูข. ุญููู ุญูููู ุฃูุญูุงุกู ุดูุชูุฑู ุงูุจูู ุฎุงููุฏู
ููููุฏ ุทูู
ูุนูุช ูู ุบููู
ู ุขุฎูุฑู ุฌูุนููุฑู
13. And I belong only to a neighbor who lives nearby,
So what is the end of this life for which I hope?
