1. We tarried at Umm Muhammad's abode
A day without drinking wine or liquor
١. ظللنا فبِتنا عند أم محمد
بيوم ولم نشرب شراباً ولا خمرا
2. When she was silent, we were vexed by her silence
And if she spoke, her words intoxicated our minds
٢. إذا صمَتَت عنّا ضجرنا لصمتها
وإن نطَقَت هاجت لألبابنا سكرا
