قد علم الابناء من غلامها

1. The sons have known whose servant he is
When the cockroaches bristled their worry

١. قَد عَلِمَ الابناءُ مَن غلامُها
اذا الصراصيرُ اقشَعَرَّ هامُها

2. I am the son of her madness, holding its reins
I did not turn away from it with assuaging prophecies

٢. أنا ابنُ هيجاها معي زمامُها
لم أَنبُ عنها نبوةً أُلامها

3. From the length of time her days have tested me
I am not like those for whom her unlawful is permitted

٣. من طولِ ما جرَّبني أيامُها
لستُ كَمن حَلّ له حَرامُها

4. Nor do you see a wet nurse caring for her child
Or a night where I slept, what sleep of mine!

٤. ولا ترى حانيةً أرحامُها
وليلةً قد بِتُّ ما أنامُها

5. I revived her until her darkness receded
With a filthy being, a breast overflowing with worry

٥. أحييتها حتى انجلى ظلامُها
بذاتِ لَوثٍ ضَرِعٌ بغامُها

6. The experienced guide leads the noble camel by its reins
While its mother panics in the wasteland

٦. يهدي المطيَّ النجبَ اعتزامُها
وأمُّها في البيدِ واهتزامُها

7. And a darkened land with flags
They all worry and fret with their faces and heads

٧. وبلدةٍ طامسةٍ أعلامُها
يضغو جميعاً بومُها وهامُها

8. If an inadequate man duped it, swindled it
A tribe whose boy is its worry

٨. ان رزاماً غرّها قرزامها
قبيلةٌ اجملُها غُلامُها

9. A tribe whose youths are its anxiety
It does not know what Moses or his wonders are

٩. قبيلةٌ زبابُها كمامُها
لم تَدرِ ما موسى ولا سطّامُها
