1. A house upon which desolation and darkness have fallen
The days have taken away its beauty and splendor

2. The sun of happiness that once shone on it has now set
While all the houses around it stand tall

3. Glory to Him who ordained death as we depart life
When tyrants assume power and reign

4. Neither life is life after the inhabitants have gone
Nor are those tents, tents anymore

5. Youth has departed, and there is no joy left after it
And old age has come, with no peace upon it

6. Or haven’t you seen the silver in its cheeks
Which the days have cast into their fires

7. The whites of its eyes have been stripped of their lids
So upon life – greetings and peace

8. When the beloved wrongs us or does good
We accept that and do not blame him

9. They left the sweetness of life bitter
Souls deteriorate and diseases multiply

10. Life does not taste good after they have gone
They were the radiance of our eyes and our tranquility

11. I would not be satisfied with the shelter as an abode
Its shade and my loved ones as long as they lived

12. Would that life would cease after their departure
They went, so what after the goal is a goal

13. The palace that the Al-Manjiki, Muhammad Al-Durgham built
On the orbit of happiness has collapsed

14. And became a tomb covered by a cloud
Upon which mercy and peace rain

15. Those from the Al-Manjiki family, their mention is fragrant
Like flowers in buds wherever they settle

16. A people whose young are elders in glory
Who love beauty and are not deterred from it even when weaned

17. A people, if they ride steeds to battle
They sprout as lords and the generous among the generous

18. A people, if the blades of their swords are unleashed
Sorrow and worries kill women

19. My death which I was aiming for has come upon me
On the day of intention, when people migrate

20. Others care about pride while I
Am among men, of rank and status

21. For my origin was under a canopy
Whose servants were the informants and spies

22. My grandfather who ruled the country with his wisdom
Not with brave armies and swords

23. He was a slave and became master
Of all the kings, his doorkeepers

24. He built hospices on the path of guidance
Uncounted by pages or pens

25. Ninety nine of them he built sincerely
That generous, benevolent prince

26. The house of Prince Abu Al-Ma’ali Al-Manjiki
Among some of his towering buildings

27. And he has palaces built over heights
Guarded by might and greatness

28. And mosques founded by the hand of piety
In them, men who prostrate and stand in prayers

29. A king who, when guests approach his side
Calls villages to provide them with gifts

30. A king who, when the blades of his soldiers are unsheathed
Their handles Indian and Damascene

31. A king, if kings crowd around a watering place
They make way for him and their hearts quiver

32. A king, if the clouds stint in sending down their rain
Torrents flow from his hands unhindered

33. If the two guests lose their way to his doors
He guides them to the path of his generosity

34. And it has furnaces whose raging fires
Invite the Quran reciters to light

35. With these furnaces, ambergris they have burned
As they sprinkled from his palm poisoned arrows

36. Curse this world, all its makings
Are forever evils and joys, dreams

37. Our deeds are vipers between us
Seeking our doom while we sleep

38. The faces of people have been disgraced as the ignorant rose
And the lowly became great and stood up

39. Those in whose care life was good have gone
And in their place are left the cattle

40. I bear witness that my Lord is One
And His prophet is the foremost of the messengers

41. Inclining hearts to other than Him is misguidance
And anything besides the Guardian is an idol

42. May God bestow blessings and peace upon the Prophet and his family
And his companions, as long as they last

43. These apparent signs and manifestations
Are temptations for you, and all of them, dreams
