1. Bring it, though time for you has flown,
Where it gives you sips, sip after sip,

2. And you see the cups standing around,
Nothing else, on the constant wine-pourer.

3. Minds wander in the goblet from it
Moments cast on you mighty sorcery.

4. And if it starts to pour a tale,
You say, give it to me - the old suffices.

5. Branches they are, though parched, but
Only bliss has watered bliss.

6. Faces as though pearls were strewn
On them from gardens by the breeze.

7. Abashed, I said, “Pearls - what we see?”
“No, stars that circlets ornament.”

8. “Then stars give you drink for peace
And stars stone the ribald to their doom.”

9. None has tasted the savor of my verse,
By my life, but the generous and noble!
