Peerless, unmatched, as legends foretold,

For any but he, save fancied in mind.

3. A chief, son of chiefs, of purest descent,
From ancestors holy, of noble intent,

4. If I delayed singing his praise as due,
I'd say, as in ages devoid and untrue,

5. I doubted not eras, but my mistake
In choice of mean souls praise to partake.

6. To speak of the great, is sweetness sublime,
Unfading, while all else fades in time.
