2. And nothing of my separation from its dwellers remains
Except my inflamed liver and my wounded heart

3. My pact with it is that life casts its shadows
And its gardens blow a gentle breeze over me

4. The memory of passion in it makes me collapse
At every celebration, its wounds remain gashed

5. It leans in wonder over the two hills as if it were
The plain of Al-Shaโ€™b or the plateau of Al-Batโ€™ha

ุฃูŽุฑุงูƒุฉ ูˆุงุฏูŠ ุงู„ุดูŽุนุจ ุฃูŽูˆ ูŠุงู†ุฉ ุงู„ุจูŽุทุญุง

6. It sends from the darkness of its heights, gloom
And from the brightness of its summits, dawn emerges

7. A breeze of affection blows over those who camp there
And turns away from me whenever I venture forth

8. I cry out though I have done no wrong, and it estranged though I was true
I seek reconciliation through fighting

9. The days left behind no one like my bidder farewell
Nor anyone as generous to them as my most noble

10. Muhammad whom if my soul could ransom
I would give it for him without the people's presence

11. God has shown us every merit in him
Combined with guidance and good counsel

12. He has attained the most noble of steeds and the Arabs
Pure of speech and tongue have prided themselves on him

13. Hopes and affairs revolve around him, so welcome
And he brings benefits whenever rain pours

14. The eyes of glory twinkle in him serenely
And the face of honor awakes cheerful with success

15. Had it not been for him, the winds of my poetry would not blow
Nor would I have composed with my plectrum any eulogy

16. For praising other than the most deserving
My shyness prevents members from moving away

17. O brother of glory, forgive me, for nights are sorrowful
Changing in my eyes their beauties into ugliness

18. The remnants of patience in me were destroyed by worries
So I have neither borne a sword nor grasped a lance

19. I refused thousands of companions for my complaints
Except for leaves echoing my sorrows back to me

20. I shed my soul in tears from my eyelids
And fold over embers, fanning them forcefully

21. So please sympathize at every misfortune
For without you, my darkness is not dispelled
