1. Help a believer, O morning breeze
Perhaps the memory will benefit

2. The bond of patience is lost
From both family and friends

3. He became ill when the feast returned
In sorrow since parting from loved ones

4. For him closeness is exile
So what is imagined when he was absent

5. His kin's affection has dried up
And he did not ask for reward

6. Damascus the beautiful, the good
Describing the river as pure

7. She boasted beauty over Egypt
But my homeland is enough for me

8. And they said it is nearer
Yes, nearer to my heart

9. And they asked the Lord
So He said, "Go down to Egypt"

10. Paradise told of Riḍwān
Damascus the Levant, it marveled

11. So how many flowers of the garden
The light of the moon delighted

12. And how many breasts of the courtyard
With the heart of water became pleasant

13. So how pleasant is the heart
And how spacious is the breast

14. About fate and purpose
So how many complained of residence

15. Naming excellence, caring made weary
And when excellence named pleased

16. So oh, its gentleness, how it soothed
And the sword of resolve, how it accomplished

17. Guidance, love, companionship
So how many a seeker recites

18. My loved ones, have mercy on my complaint
A stranger among your loving ones

19. Bestow on me some of what I hope for
With a promise of meeting you

20. Is there no query from you
For a soul that longs among you

21. And do not overblame
Perhaps it has an excuse
