1. O Eid, you have not returned with a beloved
To a heart feeling anguished and troubled
١. يا عيدُ ما عُدتَ بِمَحبوبٍ
عَلى مُعَنّى القَلبِ مَكروبِ
2. O Eid, you have returned to one who sees
Deprived of all beauty found in you
٢. ياعيدُ قَد عُدتَ عَلى ناظِرٍ
عَن كُلِّ حُسنٍ فيكَ مَحجوبِ
3. O loneliness of a house whose Lord
Has dawned wearing grieving robes
٣. ياوَحشَةَ الدارِ الَّتي رَبُّها
أَصبَحَ في أَثوابِ مَربوبِ
4. Eid has dawned upon its people
With a face lacking beauty or grace
٤. قَد طَلَعَ العيدُ عَلى أَهلِهِ
بِوَجهِ لاحُسنٍ وَلا طيبِ
5. What business have I with time and its events
It has truly afflicted me with wonders
٥. مالي وَلِلدَهرِ وَأَحداثِهِ
لَقَد رَماني بِالأَعاجيبِ
