1. Let the tears flow like a torrent
And the fire of passion blaze like flames

2. Will my sorrow be extinguished and my eyes find peace
When I have not lit a fire with the warriors?

3. I saw patience as the most distant hope
When the army marched with the warriors

4. And I prepared the regiments with standards
Proclaiming war at every moment

5. I sharpened my spear for the battle
And primed myself for skill and cunning

6. Whenever duty called, the young men
Would hasten to gather around me

7. With horses that do not falter in combat
And men who do not see death as shameful

8. Behind the caravans in every land
And the first to attack whenever we raided

9. You will remember me when men charge
And I pierce them repeatedly with my spear

10. A land I once filled with horses
And a sky I stirred up with dust

11. May Allah replace this with righteous fortune
Or relieve me of missteps

12. So I may heal from the stab of spears
And attain vengeance for the whims of fate

13. I stood by the ruler and was among those
Whose separation from him was by choice

14. When the ruler marched, I had no peace
Of spirit or rest until his return

15. I suffered distress and gloom without him
And sleep in which I took no delight

16. With him I was fiercest in might
And farthest in raids when we rode

17. I cleaved the massed army behind him
And tore the stirred up dust in his wake

18. When the ruler's eyes were tranquil
We were loyal to him by choice, not constraint

19. A righteous father, guardian and cousin
A support when calamity loomed

20. Extending protection over our elders
And ensuring security in our lands

21. May Allah let me see his rise anew
And may safety accompany him wherever he went

22. May He fulfill all his hopes
And let events be kind to him
