As if I know nothing but sadness

When my heart is melted, consumed by agony

5. My companion's departure left me forlorn
Like an abandoned tent peg driven into the ground

6. A bough he was, but no love for a lover
No kindness towards anyone at all

7. He scoffs at the soft boughs of anak trees
And makes gentle mountain gazelles ashamed of their graceful necks

8. When my eyes see him, I pray for protection
Fearing for his tall and slender figure from the evil eye

9. When he dances playfully or walks smiling
Swaying branches and parting the cold

10. His people left, and when they were gone
My heart remained behind and did not return

11. When his caravan departed, shards of my liver fell
Oh my soul, my liver is shattered within me

12. O guide of miseries, bring me back my moon
Amongst those white encampments, make haste!
