1. Your enemy is destined for misfortune
While your cause is promised victory

2. Ishaq's son saw misery more deserving of him
Than good fortune, and finite things are finite

3. How can one who strays from the path of truth
Attain this world or the next, when he is banished?

4. Blind, with the light of guidance extinguished for him
As is one not aided by providence and righteousness

5. He lent no ear to counsel, neither heart nor hearing
How can one heed counsel who is stubborn as stone?

6. Thamud and Aad persisted in their misguidance
While Salih and Hud left no advice unspoken

7. The sword is more eloquent for one not dissuaded
From error by distance and intimidation

8. Better for him had he tarried but an hour
For his veins would have flowed while he was fettered

9. Does he not know - or not know - the consequence of your enmity
Each is harvested by the blades of truth?

10. He cast down his weapons and fled seeking respite
To save him, while his heart quaked with dejection

11. Never did the gate of his hopes offer a path
To salvation, for it was ever shut

12. Yet he lives - is not death preferable to a life
Commingled with sorrow and tribulation?

13. Time has brought low the enemies, while its events
Strove in cutting down their greenery, O you whose complexion is dark!

14. The souls of India battled their own souls
Yet inciting them to passion did not benefit them

15. They lie in the dust like him in number
If it be ordained that dust be numbered

16. They fled and no companion could save his fellow
Nor father hope for his newborn son

17. A day worthy of the glorification of all people
None compares in its beauty to this feast

18. By its virtue the days envy it
Verily the noble, exalted Prophet is envied!

19. You are Solomon in your vast dominion and in
Your prolonged vigilance in the sanctuary, O David!

20. Your abode has gladdened religion and the world
Why not, when it is praiseworthy to God?

21. My poetry falls short of reaching even the lowest level
In describing your virtues, though striving is dutiful

22. Whoever does not positively believe in obedience to you
No faith or monotheism can avail him

23. Your pleasure is religion and life, your justice
A shady shelter outstretched over the days

24. May you remain, for the world’s duration, triumphing
With victory, openings, empowerment and support!
