1. O brother of kinship, I am close to you in kinship and intention
Reveal the old affection and enjoy

2. Had you reciprocated my love
I would come from Baghdad for love and meet

3. And I tried the brethren of time but did not find
A loyal brother, truthful in speech and deed

4. O companion, the whims of souls are instincts
And from me comes passion, created, and from you I create

5. Such is the love of lovers in invoking love
Some have passion for them and some are passionate

6. I accustomed myself to a new creation I entrusted
To the old, it is the aged wine

7. And I, in my estrangement, estrange the youth
Does the caravan from the direction of Tigris flutter?

8. Without you the partridge would not yearn for the Tigris
Longingly, nor would it long for Baghdad, mateless

9. Prolong for me the branch's speech from you
For after it there is only fragmented speech

10. Describe for me that plump lip and summarize
On a waist of it, for you are drowning

11. And let it be known that I am not accustomed
To the ways the reckless mind makes habitual

12. I would deny even the morning assembly at the pavilion
Where we crowded that stretched dome

13. When the birds sing and the lutes chant
And the Tigris flows and the branches clap

14. And while we stare at it altogether
A morning and evening feast for us in it

15. And the drinking companions quaff the wine
And I quaff that exquisite red wine

16. And you kiss me with the saliva from you
Delicious with the arrangement of moist pearls arranged

17. And my Zunujyy robe above my roseate clothes and garden
Scented with the aroma of roses and amber

18. You like the sweat on me, marked,
Whose edges please, beads and beads

19. And the parted cheek, soft hands
And dissolved tresses, curly hair and cinched waist

20. When my heart desires appointment, it deters it
To the cottage, my heart for me there is hung

21. It craves the fervor of the army openly
And when it awakes except with a cracked passion

22. Turn a heart in it for longing revolving
And an eye overflowing with a stream of tears, drowning

23. And close the eyelids, suffering from agony
Perhaps an apparition of you comes to the eye

24. And enough for me is a heart devoted to you
And pouring tears on the cheeks dripping

25. Give me life if you want my wellbeing
Or else let the accomplishing terminator decide

26. The beloved spent the night with the fire, praying it
And the barber spent the night attending it

27. Be gentle with a friend who did not betray you in his absence
For the friend is gentle with the friend

28. Does an arrow fear an eye and brow?
For that is its privilege and this its excellence

29. O brother of beauty, take from me a unique pearl
When recited in an assembly of people it rages

30. Jarir would drag his tail admiring it
And Al-Farazdaq would sway pleased by it

31. For you is the pure gold in poetry, gilded
For words whose roads the slick club levels

32. My loved ones, the separation between me and you lengthened
I called you and longing calls, come, come!

33. I call you and the heart is with me in its sickness
Buried, and does a heart separate from sickness?

34. On ribs in the chest, if their affliction descended
From the old man upon the head of the youth with parted hair

35. You would drag me the proximity of the westerly camel
Moving along the intention and gliding

36. Mourn when the night mourns as if for you
A resolute man arises in the mother of my head

37. And I pine for you and the night falls with darkness
Until the procession of dawn, early riser, passes

38. People of affection, make me forget or get accustomed to your covenants
So my affection returns, verdant and leafy

39. To you the heart yearns like no bird mourned
For the flock or the flowers yearned for the violets
