On the eve when she left her abode

And her soul completed its journey

The tracks it had left behind

Its rustling disturbed her gait

Though I chided it to restrain itself

6. With her flowing locks and my tears
Both flowing without restraint

7. Her face like a garden's bloom
Veiled with her luxurious hair

8. When lightning flashed through her braids
Crowning her radiance

9. I walked through her garden
Plucking fruits for my eyes

10. Never forgetting the night when all were joyful
And the neighborhood had chosen her

11. A night of pristine joy
Dawn had kindled its passion

12. Blossoms shone radiantly through her ornaments
Shaming the stars with their glow

13. A fawn-like glance from eyes
Whetting arrows of mischief

14. Emerging in fluttering Frankish dresses
Fastening and loosening her bracelets

15. Scented sweetly with wafts of perfume
From the rustling of her flowing robes

16. Whenever she breathed, it was as if
Merchants turned over their wares

17. Roses vied with the wild flowers
To match her blossoming beauty

18. She darkened even the brightest
Having lit her own fire

19. On her rosy cheeks were dimples
Could I but lift her veil!

20. Were I to visit her bower
I would find the gazelle or her keeper

21. My love, a shower glistened
Its raindrops mocking me

22. But for the roses' betrayal
Refusing to allow me to pick them

23. Why should I complain of this world
That entices and entraps with its lies

24. I despair for my hopes and dreams
Roaming its hills and valleys

25. One day roving its highlands
Another descending its depths

26. People worshipping money as their faith
Worshipping the gold coins they clutch

27. Squandering kindness, hoarding
Meanness and making excuses

28. So my soul rejects these customs
The bird knows its own nest

29. If only I could rest by the valley
On the sands of its travels

30. And visit a generous brother
Who welcomes guests openly

31. His noble nature is welcoming
The best branch of the most generous tree

32. His abode has abundant food for guests
But few wretched ones shunning it

33. Wise conversation and eloquent discourse
Speaking truth, shunning rumors

34. A scion of the blessed Hashim
The noblest line of glorious ancestry

35. Without the radiant light of his crown
Tombs would lack illumination

36. May God adorn those gardens for him
And from His bounty, springs flowed forth

37. He intended eternal rule for them
Cut short for others by death

38. Who then can grasp their essence?
Or fathom their mysteries?

39. Destroyers unleashing calamities
Champions riding into dangers

40. As if competing for glory
Running laps around the race track

41. You would only see a lone horseman
His plaits undone, returning from the fray

42. Smooth-cheeked, seasoned warrior
Leader of intrepid battalions

43. With thrusts of his sword trenchant
To make the coward flee his home

44. And stabs of his blade incisive
The wounds spilling blood like flames

45. O brother of generosity and munificence
The caravans flock to your abode

46. It did not hurt us to lose Wusmiyah
For your hand still rains blessings in March

47. And now Aid returns with the visitors
Seeking waters to quench their thirst

48. Some ask your gift though they already
Have what you previously granted

49. You fast but from sins
Though your nature sees abstinence as sin

50. You forcibly restrain yourself from wrong
Not finding any wrongs requiring vengeance
