5. From every letter, a burning desire from its side,
From behind a flirtatious eye, the eye is amorous.

6. It has brought forth in the nomads a real genius,
Whose nature expressed the ways of nomads.

7. It was nourished on the milk of the virtuous, its nourishment
Full of life and home of the beloved abode.

8. It ignored civilization when it leaned to simple life,
Did you ever hear poetry with charm like a prophet?

9. It flows smoothly, capturing its farthest ideas,
Like the flowing of a flock of deer.

10. Thought only ascends straight,
For thought with him is by elevation and correction.

11. It overflows with accurate, penetrating intellect,
Until it hits the target flawlessly.

12. It hums the flowers of words, arranging them
In the style of al-Khalil in composition and order.

13. Poetry has two beauties, no aspect exceeds them:
Beauty in meaning and beauty in style.

14. It destroys anxiety and is stronglyImpactful,
It never stops destroying and impacting.

15. Smooth in leadership, yet still bold,
Only hardship can make the difficult easy.

16. One may coarsen after gentleness his side,
For man is not edible or potable.

17. He slackens from creating then inspires with it,
Like the scent of roses poured out.

18. He carried fragrance from his traits,
I was delighted to pluck fragrance from his fragrance.

19. He adorns companions whether generous or stingy,
A lover of truth, his adornment befits the beloved.

20. Sufficient for Jaafar is the name and title,
The sea did not contain it in name or title.

21. Wearing prose and harvesting poetry from gems,
Scattering rhymed prose, poetry, and meters.

22. When he rode high on the horse of literature boastfully,
He drove it with imaginings and steeds.

23. He yells urging whenever it slows,
Until he connects yells with flames.

24. Racing his spirited steed, excelling in the race,
Neck to neck and heel to heel.

25. If the two together do not achieve their goal there,
A judge has judged a delay in lowering the upright.

26. The shining white horse never lacks his merit,
Above or below the platforms.

27. If they have accompanied me with some affection,
I have chosen them over all company.

28. Or I was seeking something less than I yearned,
Yet I obtained something beyond my request.

29. Not all who tasted companionship experienced it,
One knows vinegar only through experience.

30. Nor everyone who sought knowledge obtained it,
The learned is conditioned by discipline.

31. No truth remains behind his back inwardly,
He enjoys no lies between what is proper.

32. His motto is honesty both in serious and jest,
In describing the immaculate, holy cheek.

33. His boat sails in my two streams,
The water of youth and the water of beauty combined.

34. No face was veiled from him by beauty, his appears
While many a face is veiled for ugliness.

35. The knot in the young man's chest dissolves for him,
If the buttons of robes are unbuttoned.

36. The bend of his eyes leads me without blinking,
Like that gazelle paired with eyelids.

37. It gestures to me either with an eye or its brow,
Or with its dyed fingers toward me.

38. He flavors my torment with sweetness, and his way,
To flavor sweetness with the sweetness of saliva, my torment.

39. O Yusuf, after his absence his shirt's scent blew,
It flowed and reached me like the wind brought Ya’qoub.
