أي نجم بدا يشع منيرا

1. What radiant star has risen to shine
Illuminating the cosmos with joy and delight

١. أيُّ نجمٍ بدا يشعُّ منيرا
طبَّق الكون بهجةً وسرورا

2. If it appeared small to the weak eyed
It is greatly magnificent to the noble

٢. إن بدا لليعون وهو صغيرٌ
فهو للمكرمات شبَّ كبيرا

3. Waleed brought me a matchless, precious infant
The wet nurse wrapped a fresh branch around him

٣. بي وليدا وافى عديم نظير
لفَّ منه القماط غُصنا نضيرا

4. The High One delivered him a suckling babe
So I watched over him as he crawled youthfully

٤. ولدته العلى رضيع لبانٍ
فامترى خلفها الحفيل درورا

5. His cheeks have cultivated gardens within us
His glances have poured springs inside us

٥. قد رعينا الخدود منه رياضاً
وشربنا اللحاظ منه غديرا

6. Beauty itself has etched its lines on his cheek
So we've read gracefulness in his features

٦. حرر الحسن منه فوق جبين
فقرأنا الجمال فيه سطورا

7. He came to us lively, with the zeal of youth
Binding as an innocent, playful child

٧. حيّ خشف الغوير حلَّ فينا
شدَّ عقد النطاق طفلا غريرا

8. Should the envious gaze at him
Their glances will return from him downcast

٨. إن رمى نحوه الحسود بطرفٍ
ردّ طرف الحسود عنه حسيرا

9. He is a gift of the Capable, the Worthy
We praise the Almighty for him

٩. وغريرٍ قد جاد فيه قديرٌ
قد حمدنا فيه العزيز القديرا

10. He came passing drinks, serving generously
Our sacrifice for the cupbearer and server

١٠. طاف يسقي السلاف فيه مديرا
يا فديناه ساقيا ومديرا

11. His sweet aroma has scented the world
The breeze carries his fragrance gently

١١. عطَّر الكون منه طيب أريج
تحمل الريح من شذاه عبيرا

12. We were averse, tired of being drank from
He taught the tossing palm tree to bend

١٢. شادنا ساجي اللحاظ نفوراً
علّم الشادن الأغنَّ النفورا

13. The wet nurses released him to us a sharp blade
One that pierces the vitals smoothly

١٣. أطلقته لنا الحواضن نصلاً
مرهف المقربين عضباً طريرا

14. A son is but merchandise for his father
What a trade that will never fail

١٤. إنما الابن تجرة لأبيه
حبذا من تجارة لن تبورا

15. We will call him to moral virtues persistently
And seek him for knowledge tirelessly

١٥. سوف ندعوه للفضائل خدناً
وسنرجوه للعلوم سميرا

16. How not, when he belongs to the Benevolent
Who attained superiority, first and last

١٦. كيف لا وهو منتمٍ لكريم
أحرز الفضل سابقاً وأخيرا

17. Of the carpenter lineage, but he counts
Among the proud - honored and esteemed

١٧. موسوي النجار جدّاً ولكن
عدَّ للفخر شبَّرا وشبيرا
