1. He wept in sorrow when we parted
Though bidding farewell eased some of the pain I met

2. Yet my longing is not for the one who left
But for the one who stayed, that is why I cried

3. The morning letters pained me with their passion
And if one listens to the youthful caller, they yearn

4. For arts from a loving woman whose affection
Hangs from my heart by a string of resolve

5. I believed her in our separation without tears
Though many who cry much are not believed

6. Maybe the breeze will bring him to me
With the scent of blossoms and perfume

7. As if there was upon it the scent of beautiful incense
Brought from the court of the blessed victorious caliph

8. So you attained what you attained when none but you
Seems for people as though fate is to be picked
