1. I wrote to her that I am a lover
On the brink of concealing with my gaze
١. كَتَبْتُ لها أَنَّني عاشِقٌ
عَلى مُهْرَقِ الكَتْمِ بالناظِرِ
2. She replied to me with the answer of passion
With the most beautiful eyes lost in their water
٢. فَرَدَّتْ عليَّ جَوابَ الهَوى
بِأَحْوَر في مائِهِ حائِرِ
3. Graceful, she spoke with her eyelids
Indicating the gentleness of her thoughts
٣. مُنَعَّمةٌ نَطَقَتْ بالجُفُون
فدَلَّتْ على دِقَّة الخاطِرِ
4. As if my heart, when she turns away
Is caught in the talons of a bird
٤. كأَنَّ فؤادِي إِذا أَعْرَضَتْ
تَعَلَّقَ في مخْلَبَيْ طائِرِ
