1. Tell the heretics about me
That my speech is the sword I wield
١. قل للزنادقِ عنّي
قَولا هو السيفُ أُمضيهِ
2. I have sent my poetry among you
To invade you with its rhymes
٢. أرسلتُ شِعري فيكم
يغزوكم بَقَوافيه
3. I have proclaimed for God in it
The truth, and truth pleases Him
٣. صَدعت لله فيه
بالحق والحقُّ يُرضيه
4. How many thirsty for my words
It quenches, wondrously quenching them
٤. كم ظاميء لكلامي
يَرويه عَجباً فَيرويه
5. And how many anguished hearts
It cures with the health of speech
٥. وكم غَليل فؤاد
بصحة القول يَشفيه
6. And riders of their whims
Perhaps one day it will deter them
٦. وراكبٍ لهواه
عَساه يَوماً سَيُثنيه
7. You may say, as people of guile
If one is ignorant of something
٧. لعلّكم ان تَقولوا
فإنكّم أهل تَمويه
8. He will never cease to hate it
Alas, my hatred of you
٨. من كانَ جاهِلَ شيء
لا يَزالُ يُعاديه
9. God knows it, and God perceives it
And that knowledge lies with me
٩. هَيهاتِ بغضيَ فيكم
في الله والله يَدرِيه
10. No good in you or in it
١٠. وذلكَ العِلمُ عِندي
لا خيرَ فيكم ولا فِيه
