1. O poet, your fingers deposited
In metrics, his prophetic book

2. A servant's prayer of sincere love
Not for a worthless Abbasid or Umayyad

3. Your brother of pure heart loves you
As you love the like of him in passion and desire

4. And youths came to you, their book filled
With its miracles, satisfied and sated

5. I would sacrifice my soul for you
Except for the palms stretched in prayer

6. You have become rooted in them as the intimate friend became
The oath of Taym and 'Adwan became fulfilled

7. And you attained what you wished though
All were diverted from their right and twisted

8. If we unveiled you, you would never be
A partisan of any doctrine or Hamawee

9. If Iblees had submitted to Adam's
Glowing creation seal's inscription

10. He would have freely and willingly bowed down
To God in submission without conceit

11. So which face that saw you did not win
In visiting you, not refusing and bending away

12. And time has died from your events
In fear, so how can you not be balanced?

13. Crying over the hunger that afflicted you
The deed of a man who starved a while and twisted

14. You almost died of hunger in Aleppo
If not for the Sufi kitchen's platters

15. And in Ibn Yaḥyā are generous traits that
Have shamed every noble with their glory

16. Al-Ḥātimi, the generous, who spread
His hand in giving every fold

17. If not for him, the Exalted One would have collapsed
In miserliness, its structure fallen and demolished

18. What can be said about a man whose hands
Flow with generosity abundantly?

19. Quenching with his knowledge and fulfilling the thirsty with
What is said of his open-handedness

20. I am amazed by him, how the stalk of
Swords contained him and his perfection contained it

21. It is not praiseworthy, if benevolence
Is ever diverted from another and sated
