1. With your resolve, O great King,
Obstacles submit and rectitude prevails,

2. Time has seen none mightier than you,
Nor an age more generous than yours.

3. When your swords rage in souls,
Bodies are first to depart them.

4. Had you plotted harm on the winds,
Your awe would hold back the clouds.

5. The Franks seek mercy from you,
While you lead the way in erasing them.

6. And how many drafts of death you made them drink
On a day when the gallant warrior takes arms.

7. So your sword against them is bloodstained,
And your name in their lands is magnificent.

8. Each of their fortresses lies destroyed,
Each of their towers left desolate.

9. When you sought them out, they wished for nothing
But the ignoble death that would end them.

10. He marched the horizons for a time,
While you held fast to their citadels.

11. No king has marched the likes of him,
No weakened man returned like him.

12. He tries to fight you by stealth,
As the fox once thought to steal from the lion.

13. Did you not see when Rome's dog
Saw you were a merciful king,

14. He came, spreading horses over the plains,
Like the black night spreads its darkness.

15. Time itself consented to his affairs,
Which made his situation most grave,

16. But when he attacked you on a Thursday,
He knew such would not last.

17. And he saw in your onslaught an army,
Moving relentlessly, neither halting nor resting.

18. As if you were a fire ablaze in the darkness,
Kindled while he is a banished demon.

19. Wanting to preserve himself, he fled,
With none left to him but the mourning dove.

20. He hopes you would bestow it upon him,
While you and the world are generous.

21. I saw you, with the kings crowded before you,
At your door, enduring, never moving.

22. You accept, anytime, from your stirrups,
A rank beyond what the stars can reach.

23. The sun desires if it could attain it,
Where is the gazelle from what it seeks?

24. You wanted, and nothing in the world is impregnable,
You found, and nothing in the world is unattainable.

25. And you revived justice among us, until
You vanquished with your sword the unjust times,

26. And you reached kingdoms in an age,
Barren and dead were it not for you.

27. You adorn the prince with Gardens of Eden,
While for his enemies burn the hellfires.

28. May God gladden your eyes with a king
Whose ambition is troubled by concerns,

29. Never ceasing to ransom the world for you,
And your kingdom safe from its afflictions.

30. And if you endure hardship in God's path,
With God lies your reward and bliss.
