1. You surely distract yourself from what makes you sad
And why does your heart get absorbed in playfulness?

2. By God, the days of union, for they are
The hope of souls and the joy of the distracted

3. The days of our sweet companionship and our habit
In it embracing gazelles and sipping lips

4. And the eyebrows that laugh at me coquettishly
Matchless and incomparable

5. With every languid glance when she inclines
She captures the heart of the passionate worshipper

6. Misfortunes have singled me out and have not ceased
Until they were victorious by God's victory

7. You kept playing with generosity, so we thought
That they were amusements

8. How much morning dew have you scattered
And I still see your kindness unabated

9. O you, when the clouds of your generosity rain
They come without stop or reluctance

10. You remain triumphing over fate with the honor
You have granted me, and I take pride in generosity

11. So accept the claim of the daughter of thought that
Came to you in my poetry, bashful and recoiling

12. Do not let the envious revile her, for she is
The soul of hearts and essence of mouths

13. I have adorned her with a necklace of witticisms
So grant her in the garb of glory a safe haven
