1. God is Greatest! A people whose poet
sings, so the orbits lean in to hear.

2. The people of Arabism protected their unity by God!
The stars are counted, but their glories cannot be counted.

3. If history stained their conduct
their feelings would tremble from the awe of recollection.

4. If their past was filled with glories
their present did not abandon glories.

5. Like generosity, its harvest ripened in the palm of the reaper,
And its goodness increased through the vintner.

6. The glory of Arabism is dependent on its unity,
Disunity is weakness at first, and ruin at last.

7. Alas! No people can rise again after their downfall,
Unless their elements unite in heart!

8. And for the people unity is the strongest of their treasures,
When the truth is that their treasures are united.

9. It is the weapon, when the fires of their cannon go out,
Or when its powder is spent.

10. O Lord of a people fragmented and divided,
Whose weakness clipped its claws.

11. It never lived a day, however long the time,
Rather its era is when it fills its graves.

12. It has forgiveness from the occupied homeland,
If it resists, and for the occupier, its builder.

13. The child lives in his house as a slave to his captors.
The child defying him, and the slave obeying him,

14. Who is content to live in the shadow of humiliation, neither
Did land shelter him, nor did sights settle on him.

15. And man is made miserable by his right hand, and made happy
Even if his fate is in the hands of his Master.

16. The Arabs have a religion based on monotheism.
Its essence calls to it, and its appearance.

17. What is the secret of its strength but its unity?
Its rituals are based on its principles.

18. For the son of Aminah al-Zahra’, it is miracle enough:
A people whose tribes were united by his hand.

19. It continued to flounder in the quagmire of its divisions
Until its hostile tribes were harmonized by Islam.

20. Their unity was completed to the melody of the Qur’an,
As if its charmer had enchanted intellects.

21. And the heavens were covered by its aura of majesty,
And its armies penetrated its regions.

22. If the Arabs are remembered, their Caesars tremble,
And their emperors spend the night throbbing with fear.

23. A people whose backs prop up the throne of Jesus,
The universe obeyed them: its nomad and its settled.

24. The land shakes from their galloping horses,
And the sea quakes from their abundant ships.

25. Ask the Roman Sea: Were its waves astonished,
And the man of the desert crossing it?

26. Who taught the Bedouin to ride upon the water,
Then he went to cleave the depths of the sea what hid them?

27. He only knew water when spilled
From the clouds, when its rain came.

28. Until, when his arm grew strong with monotheism,
He walked on the water, his shields rising above him.

29. Were it not for the fortresses of Constantine,
The traces of his state would be erased, and its structure crumble.

30. Ask Arabism in its diverse dwellings
About the glory of its first: Did its luster return?

31. I glimpse in its horizons a radiance
From the dawn of its awakening its tokens have appeared.

32. If my assumption is correct, then victory
From its people is near at hand. Why not, and God is its supporter?

33. A people freed from its shackles has gone
Dragging the train of the garment of humiliation, its captor.

34. Thus in Canaan: a people who protected its territory
The day of Qanat in warring bands.

35. And in Algeria: a people who launched a battle
Whose free women entered it.

36. And in Syria: harmony which still continues
Despite events, its bonds have not been severed.

37. And across the Tigris: a people established its greatest stand,
And revolted against tyranny, its rebel.

38. And around Sana’a: an army whose leader
Usurped a throne, its merchant trafficking in the name of religion.

39. It is Arabism, the eye of God watches over it,
However long the sphere turns its cycle.

40. O children of Ya’rub! This day is your day,
A day of promise, radiant of face and blossoming.

41. The era of chains and shackles is gone,
Its gloomy days, and its glooms have cleared away.

42. By God! Do not let your wedding celebrations for victory
Distract you from an obstinate enemy, and camps that support it.

43. At your border, O people, closely
Is a most stubborn enemy, betrayer of covenants, beware it!

44. And how can we trust them when poison is in their mouths,
And it only advances with its mouth agape?

45. And how can we trust a people who have no faith?
I see their plots beginning to emerge.

46. The fire of enmity, its flames are fanned by its stoker,
And the abyss plummets into its depths.

47. Purify your innermost thoughts of any blemish,
For life is purified for those whose inner thoughts are purified.

48. Do not recall the mistakes of the past and its tumult,
Whatever mistakes happened, God forgives them.

49. Sins are forgotten among kinsfolk, however grave they are.
For the compassionate, their great ones are as their small ones.

50. When brothers dispute, reconciliation
Allows harmony between them.

51. If your unity comes together, iron will become soft for you,
As iron becomes malleable for the one who smelts it.

52. If you seek glory, the rocket is launching,
And the unity of ranks and consultation are its sources.

53. It is as if I glimpse history awakening,
Astonished by it, and its records are in its right hand.

54. Just as you learned of your past history,
Your history in the future, its treatises will be recited.

55. Gamal, complete for the people of Dhaad their unity,
For it is love, and you are its sower!

56. The Arabs have no opponent, no matter how strong,
Except you, with God’s help, defeat him!

57. Your people sleep in safety and in tranquility
While you alone spend the night wakeful.

58. I swear the Pyramids are no longer the pride
Of the Nile, but the Nile’s pride is its supporter!

59. Sword of Arabism, sword of God you are, and never
Will a sword fail whose sharpener is the Lord of the Throne!
