With the ink of the inspired Basilius

2. And today the light of justice has shone and the
Darknesses of ignorance have been dispelled from the judge and the supplicant

3. And today Damascus Levant has brought good tidings
With a virtuous one who has no equal in existence

4. A keeper, pure, whose bleating has expelled
The wolves, and has taken every devil

5. His Creator has shown him the light of His wisdom
Remaining to enlighten this fleeting world

6. He brings the departed back to life when they attain
Forgiveness from Him and saves them from their second death

7. Whoever wishes to shepherd God's sheep safely
In God's fold, from intimacy and from strangeness

8. Walk in your path, my Master, cloaked
In God's obedience, neither heedless nor wavering
