1. The gazelle's eye below the eye of a gazelle
You will surely find her human in seclusion

2. And know that the night is a fleeting night
The full moon is a moon of splendor and beauty

3. The darkness has drawn near, the tambourine has sounded
Dyeing the myrtle tree red like henna

4. So drink from the roses of the cheeks with a star
Yielding generously a flowing liquid

5. Rising over its banks and falling just as
Locusts fall upon a flowing brook

6. Would you not be pleased by the coolness of the beloved’s saliva
And relieve you from the heat of confusion

7. She who adorned the necklaces and left them
A moon sending forth a gazelle with a crescent

8. Glory to Him who created the enchanting tambourine
With swaying hips leaning to one side

9. White gaining splendor from the stars
From her snowy neck and in it is beauty

10. When her mouth met the sphere of glass
Its night turned into glittering radiance

11. I did not know when she hugged her slender waist
Whether it was the lover or my imaginary lover

12. And who described the darkness to her beloved
The valley's dove or her ankle bells

13. How can I attain her swaying necklace
With stairways of cascading waterfalls upon it

14. And at the red lips are the moles of charms
And at the black eyes are piercing glances

15. Her swaying figure still prevents me
So that the bee escaped with the honey gatherer

16. I became lost - would that a young girl not get lost
Whose youth the vicissitudes of fate made decline

17. Her inclinations are coquettish, her glances languorous
While my inclinations are like the declining sunset

18. Oh Lord, why did I become intimate with Solace
And Imagined that the one with the mole was my intimate

19. I ransom your beauty, coquetry and every possessor
Of splendor, charm and amorous allurement

20. Two contrary things agreeing in you against my blood
An amorous glance and a melting heart

21. Do not deny by my sideburns this whiteness
The whiteness of my old age is due to my sterling traits

22. If you dye with henna the sprouts of your branch
Camphor would turn to musky gazelle

23. The tooth stick claimed your mouth's moles sealed it
So that even the tooth stick is ignorant

24. Say, O tooth stick, your mouth’s seal is the musky
So the tooth stick knows better than you

25. The son of Baz, Nur al-Din al-Murtada
In the excellences of speech and deeds

26. Who takes care of His servants and multitudes
As a lioness tends to her cubs

27. Whose loyalty does not change in hardships
Or generosity when times alter

28. Who stores dried meat for the winter
And reaps fruit of wealth for his protege

29. Succor of the destitute, formidable defender
Whose protectors felt safe from burdens

30. As befits governance, his domains remain
Praiseworthy in deeds like Muhammad

31. That you may avoid regrets, stumbling corrected
And attain the best that can be attained

32. For he is the correct one while every other view errs
He is the answerer while every liberal is stingy

33. He defends vehemently with proficiency
More resolute than the brave heroes

34. Why would I need rain gathering or withholding
While his hands have secured me from paucity

35. The gardens of Galq are verdant with his generosity
While the others rain yet claim to have nothing to give

36. His justice made foreigners equal to relatives
And so they became similar, grievances dispelled

37. He erased ignorance with knowledge just as
He erased oppression of tyrants with his might

38. The merit of one who pleases the Praiseworthy and serves Him
Even if it infuriates every hostile blusterer

39. Bestow, O most merciful overflowing
Radiant, charitable and continued blessings

40. And boast - for you are the scholar, the flag
Whose days are sometimes dew and others strife

41. The righteous innocent one whose holidays
Are eternal, having no decline

42. And when the youth attributes matters to his Lord
He attains his goal with peace of mind

43. The glorious feast has arrived heralding
For you the garb of welcoming and veneration

44. So dress yourself with it as long as a feast arrives
Or departs and submit to every crescent

45. And accept the wine bearer who shows you in her cheek
