With a grin I saw him delighted

When he pretends to break his glance flirtatiously

3. I left him intoxicated when I drew him close
Scattering camphor from his bosom

4. If I kissed his cheek longingly
It became fire and scattered pearls

5. Or a tulip drenched in dew
Above it the gazelle shed light

6. Dyeing the pure silver falsely
As the halo dyes the crystal clearly

7. May we not miss his blessed reproach
It became a victorious supporter

8. Appeasing the disturbed and the shy
And dutiful to the prince and the appointed

9. Stay until the bright dawn brings relief
I took from his blows the elixir

10. Then he left, fortunate and content
After he had been complaining bitterly

11. And I remained grateful and obliged
I thank God for the plentiful reproach
