A wild dove perched on a leafy branch.

4. It leads its blindness with its light
And sends back its absence the eyes of the onlooker

5. If it dawns, it tells of the gazelle at daybreak
And if it sings, then a gazelle of the wilderness.

6. Its heavy necklace weighed down, like the waist of
A tender girl, the jewelry on her chest revealed.

7. It outshone the bright moon, for in the soul
It does what the moon does to water.

8. The bubbles of scent mimicked the pearls of her mouth,
Perplexed, which was the mouth of the morning.

9. It is the habit of passion to be heedless, so if it saw
The fireflies, it would say: the fires of love!

10. She spoke the truth, the one who told us:
The fragrance of the breeze comes from Al-Zorah.

Rising, outshining the sun in the darkness.

13. And the night in the sunset of wine like a servant
Disguised in a red garment.

14. When she saw the rose of the garden sad
In us, and the season the winter season,

15. She departed from the rose on her cheek
And swayed in her green garment.

16. She revealed to us from her mouth the new blooms
Whose brightness the stars of Gemini envied.

17. Honored through her from a human paradise
That shows love and radiance.

18. And a friendly gazelle whose glances
Are wild and uniquely chaste.

19. Her rising dispelled the darkness leaving it
The sheath of Abdul Qadir Al-Wada.

20. The trusted master, the faithful trustee
The scholar of certainty, the remainder of the virtuous.

21. Protector of the sanctuaries of the Muslims, trustee of the
Lord of the worlds, disgracer of all contention.

22. With the white banner, the red sheath,
And the brown headband.

23. And the first blow with which he destroyed
The confused dead upon the living.

24. Whose blue and yellow banner they obeyed
Over the Arabs and non-Arabs alike.

25. God and the Highest Angels bear witness
That the Prince belongs to the family of Az-Zahra.

26. For he is the answer to the questioner, the fresh water for the thirsty,
And the rain cloud for the distant one.

27. He is the one who split the crown of the Supremely Powerful
From a white, celestial pearl.

28. And endowed him from the essence of the Message with a breath
That brings souls back to bodies.

29. War and devotion know his superiority,
And the succession of dawn and dusk.

30. Generosity knows he is the most generous creature
In white and yellow.

31. He holds not the dinar but for a moment
Until he flings it to the destitute.

32. Until if there remains at his doors
No healthy or protected needy one,

33. His stomach contents itself with barley bread,
And from drink but a sip of water.

34. The virtues of his chastity do not weary singing his praise,
And God lauds him with the best praise.

35. And with what the foe calls other than rectitude
And the mouth of dew but the mouth of purity.

36. They measured his speech by shining round pearls,
A beautiful, reverent, and modest girl.

37. Then they spurned the flowers of gardens and likened
His words to the stars of Gemini.

38. And the truth between his talk and both
Is what’s between the light of sun and darkness.

39. My Master, praise God, and praise is what
Accompanies me, for as long as I live and have water.

40. I have inscribed it while afflicted in my eyes
By parting from our noble absent one.

41. So if you see a flaw in it, say: When
Could the camel catch up with the caliphs?

42. So line my eyes with the scent of your threshold,
For it is the cure for a blind old woman.

43. How can I refrain from praise when my nature
Is straight like the even horizons?

44. In your relief my troubles’ knots untied,
And by your hand my loyalty’s rope tied.

45. The feasts continue to promise each other
To meet you, the promise of the truthful fulfiller.

46. You remained a rescue for the poor, a victor
For the seeker of refuge, and a delight for the seer.
