1. My God, none but You can remove my affliction,
And none but You can treat me with kindness.

2. For You are Allah, the Giver of all good,
And You are Allah, the Reliever of all suffering.

3. For Your sake, for Your power, for my need of You,
For the sanctity of the jealous Lamb,

4. And for the sake of the Virgin from whom appeared
The Best of shoulders and chests.

5. Turn all my thoughts to good,
And save me from the grievous illness.

6. For I have no helper but Your aid,
And no refuge but Your pardon.

7. Shall I seek any but Your door, O my God,
And ask from any but Your abundant gifts?

8. I am resigned to rejection, expulsion,
Deprivation, contempt, and suffering,

9. And who but You can forgive my sins
And open the way for me and permit my passage?

10. I am the sinner who wasted my wealth
And my days on the worst of matters.

11. And I stored up no good deed
To adorn my state on the Day of Resurrection.

12. But I fled from disobedience to You
In the garb of bright hope.

13. So fulfill my expectation in You, O All-Pervading,
And facilitate what has become difficult of my affairs.

14. For Your pardon does not stint toward one who seeks refuge,
And Your bounty does not withhold from the needy.

15. He who calls You for a great matter,
How much more does he call You for a trivial one!

16. So I fled to You, O Excellent of wildernesses,
From the terror that dwells in my conscience.

17. I fled to you from my folly and ignorance,
From my evil, my foolishness, and my tyranny.

18. I fled to You from my vanity and arrogance,
And from what I offered of my insolence and falsehood.

19. I fled to You from a grief that brings no good,
And from a care that relates to me no cheer.

20. I fled to You from a momentous danger,
Which I feared for the precious pardon.

21. For the liver that was inflamed and almost
Melted away my family and demolished my homes.

22. I called the doctor, and he said the sole
Remedy, the remedy for diseases of the chest,

23. Was to head up to the land of Najd
And aim down for Al-Ghuwayr.

24. So I said to him, “Begone from me, for my Lord
Will heal me and forgive my shortcomings.

25. And He will accept the intercession of the Best Virgin
Who desires my well-being and loves my good.”

26. Purifying her essence, He chose her
Without taint from the immaculate conception.

27. So the doctor left me, saying, “Far be it!
She is the aide in all matters.”

28. And I remain stretching my hand toward You, O my God,
The hand of a captive prisoner in fetters.

29. Your bounty does not refuse the hand of my need,
Without some link to the famed generosity.

30. So what have You, O All-Pervading, of a partner
That we should frequent him, for You have no equal?
