Or asking, or speaking, or gaining, or favoring

9. His opinion and sword relieve troubles
And relieve hearts when he rules and when he sheds blood

10. God gave him the name Ahmad for he became
The highest and most praised in heaven and on earth

11. O you whom when given authority
He takes under his wing the righteous and judges firmly

12. I never gloated when the Sultan was honored
In the councils of nobles without the likes of you

13. He who gold took in place of the husband
Whom the executioner took, as if the ruler was infatuated

14. You bent Ma'n's spear, and Ma'n's spears
Used to be carried with the youths when thrown

15. So I will praise you for what I witnessed
For I am tired of imagined praise

16. For the locust tree was long vacant of might
And the warbling nightingale, a speechless chatterer

17. And long have I called the limping bear
A lion, and the insignificant sparrow an eagle

18. I praised my Lord when He opened my hearing
To you, O protector, and averted blindness from my eyes

19. O best of those the ground lifted to the sky
And who lifted with his bloom the face of the sky

20. The jurisprudence of al-Suli is not lasting
If it intoxicates, it sobers into an educated heart

21. None but you was pleased to absorb its blows
Most delicious to the eloquent than biting

22. So open, my ransom, though not ordered
The mouth of acceptance and cease blaming it

23. And make its rewards seeking a position
For me through your generosity, may it be honored

24. In this world I hope for its benefit
Not in the Hereafter, righteous or wicked

25. I collared the most hated owl to you with dew
Will you not collar the one infatuated with you?
