1. You say, as you fall upon her cheek
A fall that brings me more honor and esteem

2. I said, a guest, enthralled
Seeking only Al-Aamiriyya and none other

3. So her face brightened after frown
And she said, smiling in her coyness

4. With a cup of comfort, you're satisfied, never!
I want an empty cup to fill it up

5. So my request nearly turned her from me
And deprived me of the roses in her reach

6. But I met my ignorance with patience
That soothes each hurting limb

7. Our talk grew tender, and I drew near her
Extending her garment to warm me

8. I remained embracing a gazelle in her
That cools with touch an inflamed love

9. I behold in her charms, gardens
That delight every melancholy soul

10. As if her fragrance were Shukri's breaths
Thanking her and each gift she's endowed

11. A generous soul, so fine and noble
That relieves the grieving their laments

12. And beautiful visions - if revealed
None would envy them but her, I avow

13. With second place, she's content, though
The first's hand did cast away her veil

14. And if given her due merits, no station
Would be left for others, she'd be queen

15. Rejoice my lady, not for Eid's dawn
But for your light that makes this day shine

16. The crescent wishes it were a sword
To cleave through Damascus for your delight

17. For through you, souls care not for Eid
Forbidden from all but piety's way

18. You remain our Eid, and the feast's
Taking each soul to what it desires
