1. Our beautiful nights have passed
And our gloomy nights have lingered

2. The mansions of glory have fallen
Though their foundations were strong

3. And after the passing of Ibrahim
Our meadows have turned to rubble

4. Grieving for that slaughtered one
Of noble traits and virtues

5. Bestower of chivalry its due
Distributor of great full moons

6. Earner of praise, most generous
With every glorious, bountiful deed

7. He whose aspirations throughout life
Were most prudent and wise

8. And when the sky was clouded over
He would rain down thousands of gifts

9. Oh day of Ibrahim, you left no
Worth for the days that came after

10. Neither does the morning light shine
Nor the handsome youths smile

11. I grieve for the magnanimous past that is gone
When my eyes were safe from afflictions

12. And the beautiful horses were around my homeland
While people crowded around me when war spoils were divided

13. Today there is no neighbor to visit, no boon companion
No loved one comes to mourn with me

14. Or lament the cries of the orphan
I have naught left but burning sorrows

15. And tight-shut lips
My dwellings have become instead of dovecotes

16. With their valuable inhabitants gone
Oh you who after him made the world

17. Barren and devoid of fruits
You weep for one who engendered

18. Nothing but noble, lofty qualities
Oh horseman of the spirited steeds

19. Oh you of great and mighty determination
Why did you not sacrifice yourself

20. And make death your ransom?
I knew you as one who sacrificed

21. Bodies of heroes for the feast
After the night attack, I thought you

22. Were one asking for nothing
The soul of high ambition, glory, kindness

23. and piety
Not one of treacherous youth

24. And wicked, vile nature
Had you hesitated and not left

25. Your family in dire straits
I shall grieve for you evermore

26. Oh most generous of mortals
Oh star of beauty who now

27. Lies in the earth, blameless
May God grant you reward

28. And admit you to Paradise
And perpetuate for your tomb a garden

29. Watered by His abundant mercy
