1. The morning breeze tries to steal some comfort
And touches the peach, so the apple blossoms.

2. Or whenever its fragrance radiates
Delighting your cheek with its glow.

3. I ransom the moon that revolves around a planet
That made the noonday sun set at ease.

4. As if it was embarrassed by his soft cheek
So its springtime blushed into flame.

5. His slender waist and hips are the same
If he wished he could take a seal and sash.

6. His glances wrote upon swords yet only
Slaughtered souls and healed spectres.

7. His smile adorned meadows, though truly
It never grew any crops for lovers.

8. He forbade slumber upon servants
But made pillows permissible.

9. If the killer saw his nation’s beauty
He would stop fighting and dress his wounds.

10. Leave the cups and give me, my temptress,
Kisses before the radiant sun rises.

11. The babe knew before weaning what
Milk his mother’s breast would give.

12. My heart tells me you are my companion
Come quickly and do not jest in your words.

13. Leave coquetry and boredom for one
Is enough for you if you seek struggle.

14. To fight whoever jests of love.
As if your cheek beneath your gaze is

15. A servant who brings weapons for the prince.
A king crowned with righteousness and piety

16. Cancelled mischief and established reform.
The west he conquered, its light never

17. Left his traveling, fleeting camps.
No, nor did the homes of widows close

18. While his gifts remained their key.
All the lands are his lands, if you are just,

19. And he is their pillar, tomorrow and today.
His generosity opened minds to poetry

20. So they praise their opening Lord.
And they sought to grasp the essence of his traits

21. Yet only the magnificent, healing sea was found.
His traits are like the sea where some can be grasped

22. While others drown the swimmer.
One such as Abdul Qadir the hero who

23. Filled the lands with awe and success.
For he is the one Marrakesh knew by name

24. When it became a refuge for his warriors.
His swords played with the skulls of villains

25. And built them a hellish charnel house.
As if he threaded lightning through his sword

26. To hurl fire at each fallen head.
How many horsemen did the sword enrich with their heads

27. While their greed laughed at them, wailing?
If not for our leader’s oath, the Indian

28. Swords would not be stained with blood.
And how many wronged youths he forgave

29. And reaped for them the harvest of joy.
He obtained not, unless attaining his wishes,

30. And pulled back the reins of his troubles and rested.
O angerer of the heedless and pleaser of God, your

31. Traits do not increase but to clarify.
You have tongues amongst your noble creations

32. That praise you and necessitate eulogy.
You filled the volumes but they

33. Exhausted the poets and explainers.
You blunted, O lion, the envier's swords

34. And deflected the vicious barking from me.
So I will praise you with praise, wandering, lost,

35. Until the guiding hand lights my lamp.
Seeking your approval and desiring gifts.

36. So ordain upon it, each year, a return
Where we meet you, bestowing blessings.

37. May your days with you remain eternal
And you remain for us a lamp and dawn.
