1. The morning breeze blew gently,
As the drunkenness of wine faded away.

2. Rise and serve me some brewed coffee,
Whose taste and aroma are delightful.

3. It's as if time itself suckled it,
And raised it as an orphan.

4. It melted and dripped like glass,
Concealing passionate love in the drinker's heart.

5. Let not the forbidder forbid drinking wine,
Justifying with flimsy excuses and blame.

6. It's not right that one like me be deprived of it,
Nor should poets know what is forbidden.

7. I wish the stars were flashing lights,
The rain was wine, and the clouds were vineyards,

8. So it would be permissible and available,
Dispelling sorrows, no troubled one in sight.

9. Its drinking would replace pure water,
For the best of people is Ibrahim.

10. O knight of the Arabs, pride of
Adad, Ya'rub and Tameem.

11. Were it not for you, the elders of Ya'rub
Would not have emerged, said to be barren in Yemen.

12. When I praise, if not you,
Then I am the one blamed.
