1. O sacred valley with morning dew
And people of dew, my heart longs for you

2. O elegant domed palace
With no path leading to you on Al-Zaab

3. O eminent king of high Al-Zaab
You remain for glory though glory is fleeting

4. On the king of Al-Zaab I repeat peace
And the scent of musk with peace is exhilarating

5. Khalil, whoever brings you my greetings
The elixir of life has quenched his thirst though he was drowning

6. So I cannot forget the prince when he sets out
Startling with the sight of his kingdom, bringing joy

7. Nor can generosity flow on the plains of his face
When the rising sun beams from that forehead

8. Zeal for glory shook him as if
The sweet nectar of glory streamed through his attributes

9. The guide to good is evident on his face
Graceful cheek and eloquent tongue

10. By the witness of those attributes they are
Proof the carpenter is a work of art

11. So how can the soul be patient without him
When beyond him the land is deep, dusty desert

12. The mirage of desolate kin appears
As if tethered between saddle and camel

13. I swore to him by the dancers he sways
To Allah, constant of cheek and clingy of embrace

14. He has wandered your south wearing
The armor of your resolve, stallions as companions

15. He marched and before him marched
Triumphant clouds with the rising sun beneath them

16. And nine thousand mares atop them
Bannered, their flags fluttering

17. A flaming meteor in your grip
Piercing, with open roads behind

18. When people deny the encounter, in him is certainty
Like the clarity of scripture, truthful and honest

19. I wonder at those who, by his approach, changed
And thought obstacles could hinder

20. If obeying enemies did not please him
The lips of dawn with blood and coagulum would

21. Through him those foreigners knew defeat
So no dissenter is feared to defect

22. You have restored the land and it became gardens
The lion's roar returned but as a whimper

23. You have established for Yahya a tradition to follow
So in matters he emulates and pursues you

24. You trusted Yahya's enemy to him but he would not
Lift his gaze to the Lord of Retribution defiantly

25. He is the man whose resolve does not waver
As long as cunning remains narrow

26. A young man between whose eyelids slumber does not come
Nor in his eyes does the taste of sleep appeal

27. When armor melts in the blaze you'd think him
Sheltered by a Diyala tributary born yesterday

28. As if the affliction of heat covered him in a wrap
That slides off when it intensifies and oozes

29. You transcend, by Allah alone
And through your name his worth ascends and climbs

30. The East has answered your flashing blades
And for it a thoroughbred among thoroughbreds

31. Of varied hues, turned white with a marking
As if ambergris had whitened the fine green cloth

32. If each color were separated in itself
Saffron and ruby would flow and melt from it

33. Polished sides as if
When liquid musk mixed into it, it drowned

34. Whether you come at him from behind or ahead
He yawns, brays, and whinnies elegantly

35. He has a nose whose spirit none can tame
Nor can breath be constrained within it

36. He strains his hearing for the battle as if
A poised fang, ready to stab

37. He looks with merciful eyes for young gazelles and finds joy in them
He strides with silent steps though heavily

38. They fell boulders but softly land
Eyes compete over him, and ears

39. Winds gust behind him and lightnings flash
Whether you see him competing - he will pierce

40. The hemisphere, outpacing all
By my father's protected roads, he deserves

41. To be favored in your company, fittingly
He shall not drink turbid water

42. Nor milk the ostrich, so salty
Shall I commend him, though people know his merit

43. And benevolence from him is not scarce?
He hosted horses, and hosted their rider

44. And made their saddle-blankets fine
His dwelling refined tents

45. His saddlebag Damascene, elegant
His produce are your prized horses

46. All thoroughbreds, pedigreed
Will the manifest truth that eschewed

47. The falsehood of days until it vanished
Restore all manner of good deeds

48. After a long absence from those who destroyed them?
Including prohibiting harm to neighbors, as if

49. For him among the Zan clan's lairs, a place
And your victory for the truth which you represent

50. And your support for the anguished, drawing his last breaths
If promises are made they are kept

51. If a pact taken it is bound
When a dignified man leaves his place

52. To you alone remains his path
Whoever in your company does not uphold oaths

53. You are a brother to the most distant, a sibling
I have seen all people equals in your eyes

54. Be they intimate or stranger to you
As if you are made of every temperament

55. You are kind to all people
You were the victorious hand of Mansur Hashim

56. For that crushing blow when the knights charge
A sword that, when unsheathed, terrorizes

57. When the age inspires misgivings of turmoil
You were but the full moon revealing darkness

58. When darkness blanketed the far reaches
It aimed the arrows of tongues and sabers at you

59. Yet their gullets gaped thirstily to you
They are the populace whose tongues failed

60. To utter words and whose throats could not swallow the chill of drink
Be as you or they wished, it matters not

61. For the arrow of the kingdom aims to none but you
Thank not the world for attaining a position

62. You attained it truly deserving no credit
May God be pleased with your anger at Him

63. Nothing in life seems befitting to me but you
I have vowed, not to thank you for

64. Becoming provision for me with excess quantity
If I show ingratitude for blessings, meeting you burdened

65. Then I am truly a thief
Can I forget when no voice brings news

66. When oblivion has overwhelmed me
When no strength rises in my body

67. When no saliva moistens my tongue
You have abandoned me, when no hand of luck aids me

68. Nor time's heart provides company
How many kind deeds you have done for me

69. With a lineage in generosity, longstanding
None faulted them but delusions' strikes

70. Except that I am drowning in their sea
If you insist on obligating me with kindness

71. Let not the deep sea submerge me
My tongue falters from praise, sharp sword

72. Thought astray, precarious
By your right, people submitting as servants

73. Equally, your servants or free
You carried the age's nature despite its resistance

74. Loosening and correcting its deviance
It has been purified until no corruption remains

75. Cleansed until no immorality flows
For you the weaver tightened the robes' threads

76. And the blacksmith forged the iron armor links
No harm in being envied, it suits and complements

77. Your loftiness, deserving and fitting jealousy
Those envious of your heights do not hurt you

78. As your days contend with them dominatingly
God has decreed the people their rights to you

79. While you owe no rights to the people
Your lineages and souls have been noble

80. Pleasing are your branches and roots
