1. The strongest fortress is made of ledges and cliffs,
And we bid farewell to twisting valleys and slopes,

2. We shall not forget the barrenness of Al-Hijr towards us,
And the dancing girls from Al-Mahriyyah tied with ropes,

3. This is the stance of youth at the racing track and from,
The bare hillocks - an unusual spectacle,

4. And the stance of the devout young women at dawn,
Stumbling upon the footprints of the young hunters,

5. Taking an oath of abstinence from pairs and singles,
Yet they only abstain at the known occasions,

6. Ladies of weak descent, yet deadly,
As an arrow of thunder may strike a pitcher,

7. I used to hunt them during the days when I startled them,
The warbles of night chatters in my glory days,

8. The wild deer of the wilderness do not spend the night alarmed,
Nor do the roar of sands alarm with the hunter,

9. None like my prime days of youth when,
I saw my branch not barren yet unfruitful,

10. And grey hairs strike my cheeks with their glimmer,
And fate assails my group with dissolution,

11. The color of my head confused me, for
The clouds have changed in it from white to black,

12. If our eyes weep for events, then we have lined them,
After blindness, with tranquil rest,

13. The nights are not pleased with their course,
Unless they mix youth with old age,

14. I shall contend an era whose event,
Continued, so I cast off the carrying litters,

15. My faith in what the soul hopes for is in Allah,
And in the Glorious, glory of might and bounty,

16. Bestower of young crescent moons radiantly rising,
Like the chiming anklets of the supple-bodied maidens,

17. Supporter of resolve unveiled when challenges arise,
Attentive of hearing in the club when called,

18. For every sound there is room in his hearing,
Other than the harsh ones of blame and insult,

19. And the Graced One has the purest of favors while I,
Have for him none but praise and gratitude,

20. I followed his wisdom until when it reached
Its limits between guidance and elevation,

21. I saw the place of proof that clarifies while I have not,
Seen the place of interpretation and determination,

22. And the savior of my soul from its blindness was
That I spoke of it with knowledge not imitation,

23. So one whose conscience is characterized by honesty of speech,
And whose tongue warbles with the art of praise,

24. God did not stint my provision before seeing him,
Nor did I benefit from faith and monotheism,

25. To God belongs the means connected to God,
And the shadow of justice spread over the horizons,

26. A guide of guidance, proof, advice,
Clarifications, enablement and determination,

27. The light of gloomy days brilliantly shining,
And rain of withered sides heavily pouring,

28. You see his enemies in the days of his state,
What no envious one sees in an envied face,

29. The kings of Rome tried him in intensity,
Yet God's rule cannot be rejected,

30. You see no Roman unembellished,
Among them, nor patriarch unfrocked,

31. You fulfilled the destruction of their elite,
And for the wicked is a painful witnessed day,

32. They blamed your spear yet their tongues have rebelled,
Leaving no artery untouched,

33. A stab that doubles this one over in agony,
As if in each leather sack lies a filled stomach,

34. You won their stripped banners from every,
Continually marching pair of sandals,

35. And every coat of mail with interlinked rings,
Folded over every breastplate of woven mesh,

36. They did not know that the resolve is unwinding,
And that those deaths are by destiny,

37. Until they came to you confused and perplexed,
Blear-eyed and with fractured skulls,

38. And over every leather helmet a stunned hero,
And over every canal a beheaded head,

39. You crowned the spearheads with epic diadems,
Made from every unraveled thread of prose,

40. As if they are in the earth clotted black blood,
From every lofty culm cut off at the stem,

41. The black of the calamities in the white of the blades in,
The red of the tubes of deterrence and determination,

42. You made them witness every loose shirt at dawn,
In the saddlebag of every vanquished enemy,

43. As if their spears recite when brandished,
The Psalms of David in David's prayer niche,

44. Had the Romans known what they had faced,
No mother would have been congratulated for her newborn,

45. No polytheist was left in Constantine's land,
Except whom loss has singled out with deprivation,

46. A land whose calamities you established an echo within,
Making doves needless of cooing and singing,

47. As if their kings hastily marched from it,
To the killing grounds or came for the appointment,

48. A kingdom whose days were past its ancient glory,
As if never existing through the ages,

49. Solve what they determined with resolve,
And what they tested of schemes,

50. And they disturbed the sea thousands of shiploads,
Yet they are the horsemen of its deep darkness,

51. Today their pathways are erased,
From every sailor of the ship's desired course,

52. Had you asked them in the sea what they had known,
Of the ships' navigation in the sailors' channels,

53. Their shepherd in every battlefield is,
The King of Kings and the greatest of chiefs,

54. Who does not wipe away the misery of the oppressed,
Nor spend the night over the coasts of the anguished,

55. Of reverence that is feared without remains,
And wisdom sought without complication,

56. Of a people whose souls encompass the world,
While people are between narrowness and coercion,

57. If their chests were laid bare in the horizons before you,
They would close off with destruction the gaps of destruction,

58. Those people, if all counted together,
And whoever is other is superfluous and uncounted,

59. The difference between people collectively and them,
Is like the difference between nonexistence and existence,

60. If the door of generosity has a frequented and closed entrance,
You extend towards it every hand,

61. As if your forbearance established the earth or you have,
Tied with it the ends of the earth's towering pillars,

62. For you are bounties, the first of them and the last of them,
A gift of God, a gift without limits,

63. So you exemplified what is in generosity of lasting ideal,
And impact amongst people commended,

64. If fate immortalized the Honored One for his honor,
You are the most deserving of housing and eternity,

65. Bounty perishes and traces of bounty, and nothing,
Increases in every era except renewal,
