1. The separation has cheated Ahmed the son of Yazeed
The actions of time are not praiseworthy
١. خَلَسَ البَينُ أَحمَدَ بنَ يَزيدِ
لَيسَ فِعلُ الأَيّامِ بِالمَحمودِ
2. And estrangement has taken away the one I do not name
So today I am in the near far
٢. وَنَأى الهَجرُ بِالَّذي لا أُسَمّي
فَأَنا اليَومَ في القَريبِ البَعيدِ
3. A separation has afflicted me from separations
And a separation has afflicted me from repulsions
٣. فَفِراقٌ أَصابَني مِن فِراقٍ
وَفِراقٌ أَصابَني مِن صُدودِ
4. He who was absent is not really missed by the eye
Like the witnessed lost
٤. لَيسَ مَن كانَ غائِباً فَقَدَتهُ ال
عَينُ حَقّاً كَالشاهِدِ المَفقودِ
