1. O heir of the kingdom, the kingdom is withheld
From you until the Trumpet is blown.
١. يا وارِثَ المُلكِ إِنَّ المُلكَ مُحتَبَسُ
وَقفٌ عَلَيكَ إِلى أَن تُنشَرَ الصُوَرُ
2. Generosity is not mentioned unless you pass through its valley,
Nor is the sword unsheathed unless destiny fears you.
٢. لَم يُذكَرِ الجودُ إِلّا خُضتَ وادِيَهُ
وَلا اِنتُضِيَ السَيفُ إِلّا خافَكَ القَدَرُ
3. It does no harm to one who rules, being protected by
Abu Bakr and Umar.
٣. ما ضَرَّ مَن أَصبَحَ المَأمونُ سائِسَهُ
أَن لَم يَسُسهُ أَبو بَكرٍ وَلا عُمَرُ
4. With al-Ma’mun ruling the earth,
It matters not that we have no sun or moon.
٤. وَما عَلى الأَرضِ وَالمَأمونُ يَملِكُها
أَن لا تُضيءَ لَنا شَمسٌ وَلا قَمَرُ
