1. Let Ibn al-A'mash, the poor wretch, weep
For an illness which has kept him shackled

2. The pallor of his face without any sickness
Betrays the miserable with what he endures

3. What a wretched illness that sufficed
To inflict on him ugliness and barbering

4. I have been lined with the ugliness of his image, so
My eyes see him as a human being constantly

5. Ugly as if he were distributed among singers
He would only be divorced with divorce papers

6. You have become ugly and exceeded ugliness
As if you were created from separation
