يا زوجة المسكين مقران التي

1. O wife of the poor Miqran, who is no more
She became too great for visitors, and her virtues passed away

١. يا زَوجَةَ المِسكينِ مُقرانَ الَّتي
عَظُمَت عَلى المُتَطَرِّقينَ وَفاتُها

2. The graves have been emptied of a gazelle I knew
Though it is said her privacy was blissful

٢. خَلَتِ القُبورُ بِظَبيَةٍ عَهدي بِها
فيما يُقالُ لَذيذَةٌ خَلَواتُها

3. She left behind a number of orphans for the poor man
Like chicks whose mothers died

٣. تَرَكَت عَلى المِسكينِ عِدَّةَ صِبيَةٍ
مِثلَ الفِراخِ تُخُرِّمَت أُمّاتُها

4. If only he had secured his home or house
His sons and daughters around him would be few

٤. لَو كانَ أَحصَنَ بابَهُ أَو دارَهُ
قَلَّت بَنوها عِندَهُ وَبَناتُها

5. When the floods keep coming back to the lands
Their fields are submerged by their plants

٥. إِنَّ البِلادَ إِذا السُيولُ تَعاوَدَت
ساحاتِها غَمَرَ الفَضاءَ نَباتُها

6. Drowsy when visited by his brothers
Awake when visited by her sisters

٦. مُتَناوِمٌ إِن زارَها إِخوانُها
مُتَيَقِّظٌ إِن زارَها أَخَواتُها

7. Her affairs carried out on him their matters
That we almost thought that he was her subordinate

٧. إِمراتُهُ نَفَذَت عَلَيهِ أُمورُها
حَتّى ظَنَنّا أَنَّهُ إِمراتُها
