1. Days have exposed you, O man
Let not abasement disgrace him who was once honored
١. كَشَّفَتكَ الأَيّامُ يا إِنسانُ
لا يَكُن لِلَّذي أَهَنتَ الهَوانُ
2. If after me you are torn asunder, it is no wonder
That a pomegranate bursts open when ripe
٢. إِن تَكُن قَد فُضِضتَ بَعدي فَلَيسَت
بِدعَةً أَن يُفَلَّقَ الرُمّانُ
3. Hands unfold you after modesty
Once you were folded, protected and concealed
٣. نَشَرَتكَ الكُفوفُ بَعدَ عَفافٍ
كُنتَ تُطوى في تَحتِهِ وَتُصانُ
4. O you, erstwhile ardent now forgiving in sensual delight
Where is that passion?
٤. أَيُّها السابِقُ المُسامِحُ في اللَذ
ذاتِ وَالقَصفِ أَينَ ذاكَ الحِرانُ
5. No seducer has challenged you
Except you said: between me and you lies the battlefield
٥. ما تَحَدّاكَ رائِضٌ لَكَ إِلّا
قُلتَ بَيني وَبَينَكَ المَيدانُ
6. Why am I wretched because of you, while another is happy
Through your love? My love then is unfortunate
٦. لِمَ أَشقى بِكُم وَيَسعَدُ غَيري
بِهَواكُم حُبّي إِذَن كَشخانُ
