1. The palm's dew no longer bears fruit,
And its channels are now without teeth.

2. The mountain of mountains became covered with darkness upon it,
It left it demolished and wrecked.

3. I mourn for Umair ibn Al-Walid from an attack,
An early attack or from traitors.

4. I mourn the youth of youths without being denied,
My words mourn the horseman of horsemen.

5. Time stumbled and so did the turns of its catastrophes,
Our sun set with the stumbles of all time.

6. The two calamities did not leave intact anyone they assaulted,
None escape their assault upon the calamities.

7. You were once the stuffing of armor but now
You’ve become the stuffing of a coffin and shroud.

8. People’s hearts and then their eyes were preoccupied
Since you left fluttering and confused.

9. And they made sorrows sweet until they
Envy the bitterness of sorrows.

10. No one cares for anyone nor
Does a human long for a human.

11. Did death get an opportunity for an hour from you
And so assailed you while you were brothers?

12. So who remains for the day of generosity
And who remains for the day of piercing?

13. Who can withstand the great afflictions when they come together
In dire straits the rings of every misfortune?

14. Bearer of burdens, if their smallest descended
Upon misfortunes, their motes would collapse misfortunes.
