1. May God grant you ample reward
For the loss of your faithful friend

2. He has departed, opening for you the door
To the abode of peace and the sight of the Majestic Lord

3. May God keep you alive for years to come
As you wish, after the Messenger

4. For all things fade like dew and passion
At their loss, the setting sun

5. For one who, had consolation been
Redeemable by the precious and the priceless

6. Then it would have embraced all
As a sincere comforter embraces without reserve

7. So farewell a starry night that harbored
A shining star - may God give you clear waters to drink

8. After you, by your father, none remains but
A slight crescent for calamity, a crescent like an eyelid

9. We will fulfill the right of your loss as long as we live
With copious, healing tears

10. And it suffices you, O Abu Umar, what the
Gardens hold as solace for beautiful patience

11. And however the Bani Basitah are
Their way is this way

12. He who wept the ruins after
The cheerful-eyed one of lengthy life
